2017 Northern’s Health Run Walk ‘n Chalk

The Northern Health Foundation brings you…
Northern Health’s Run Walk ‘n Chalk on Sunday 21 May 2017!

This year the event is less focused on the competition and more on enjoying a colourful day out with family and friends.

The event aims to promote healthiness and happiness by bringing together the local community of all ages and abilities to participate in a 3km run or walk, weaving your way through the crazy chalking stations along Cooper Street. The start and finishing line will be at The Northern Hospital, Epping.

Join with colleagues, friends and family as we raise funds for Children’s Services at Northern Health.

The fun will continue after the main event with live performances, a food truck park, giveaways, market stalls, kids’ activities and much more!

What is the difference between team, individual, family and kid’s registrations?

A team registration is four or more friends/colleagues/people, running or walking together. Your team can be as big as you wish.

An individual registration is a participant running solo.

A kid’s registration is for a child aged between 6 -16 years. Don’t forget, kids 5 and under run free!

A family registration is valid for 2 adults + 2 kids. If you have more than 4 family members, you can purchase additional individual tickets for the extra children/adults. At the event there is no difference or division between participants, so they’ll certainly still be able to run/walk with you. Please note only the first paying registrations receive a free t-shirt this is not offered to children under 5.

Do you offer refunds?

Unfortunately, we cannot issue refunds when the event goes ahead. The logistics of setting up and planning the event make it impossible. When is T-shirt and Colour Collection?

You will need to attend event Registration between Monday 15 – Saturday 20 at The Northern Hospital Epping in the main foyer. We will run a series of daily stalls with our volunteers and timings of these stalls to be released closer to the day. Here you can pick up your t-shirt and colour pack to wear and bring along on Sunday 21 May.

Can someone else pick up my packet for me?

Yes, just bring along your ticket or a screen shot of your electronic registration.

How can I retrieve a copy of my confirmation email/check in ticket?

If you do recall receiving the confirmation email when you registered, please try searching your inbox for Northern Health Run Walk N Chalk or try email us via northernhealthfoundation@nh.org.au and we’d be happy to regenerate this.

How is the colour administered?

You will see our happy volunteers along the course with their main goal being to cover you in colourful powder to ensure you look like you ran through a rainbow by the time you cross the finish line.

What is the colour made from? Does it stain?

The coloured powder we use is made from corn-starch and natural food dyes as is biodegradable and nontoxic. It will wash out of your clothes, however we suggest you leave your matching activewear by super cool designers at home! Only wear what you’re willing to get colourful.

Will the colour stain my hair?

The coloured powder does generally wash out of your hair, however we do recommend you take precautions if you’re worried! The colour does tend to stick to lighter hair… blondes you are warned! Oiling your hair before the run will help the colour wash out. If you’re having trouble washing it after the event, bi-carb soda and anti dandruff shampoo will help get the more stubborn colour out however we do not take any responsibility for additional costs associated with the removal of colour.

Do the chalk stations affect runner vision? Or breathing?

The colour powder used is certified non-toxic and free of any heavy material and is imported from the USA so as you can imagine the process of how it’s made and shipped is very strict. Our bright colours are cornstarch and FD&C dyes. As with any substance, you want to keep it out of your eyes and our volunteers make sure to aim low as you pass by. Some runners opt to wear glasses or goggles for their eyes and use a bandanna or dust mask for their mouths.

How does the chalk affect the inside of cars?

Most people bring some towels for the insides of their cars, just in case.
